Zora Festival

ZORA! Festival 2015

Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 9:00 AM - Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 8:00 AM (PST) Eatonville, FL

My family and I will be heading to our hometown of Eatonville Florida for the annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival in two weeks. When is the last time you attended a festival like this? The opportunity to learn the rich culture of a great American folklorist and author and to be in the center of the African ancestry, education, and cultural arts that this town has to offer. It’s more than just a festival for my family and I, it’s my own family’s history. To say always remember where you come from is an understatement, this is my family’s home, this is my background. I’ll be there, will you? Find your tickets here.

Wedding Planners Pros and Cons

Aphrodite INK and Wedding Planners Pros and Cons

So I stumbled across this article online and the header instantly catches your eyes. It explains the good and the bad from hiring a wedding planner. Today I was at a dance studio with my sister, a friend from work and my best friend from high school, whose younger sister was choreographing a dance for us. She’s just like a little sister to me so I was honored when she hinted at the fact that since I found my calling in life she will no longer have to worry about the stress of planning her wedding on her own, having been recently engaged at the end of last year. So I was thrilled that she thought of me and I thought this article would be very helpful for others.

Aphrodite INK and Masquerades

I’m an advocate for masquerades. It’s a way that people can express their inner selves while disguising their outward selves for just a moment. But be cautious, your true nature will come out one day and will no longer wish to hide underneath the mask.  A person’s inner most fantasizing self or nature can freely be the expressive, carnal, courageous, or even understanding while disguised and that’s when all inhibitions are set free. So be that tempting and exciting person, or the real intoxicating human being you truly are.

These are a few of my favorite things. All things sensual and exotic, and the real intoxicating human nature of people and the beauty of embracing your wild side. Hide nothing and express yourself in a true Aphrodite-Esque nature. Please enjoy the Masquerade.

Media at an Event

Aphrodite INK and using media at an event

I ran into a few technical issues and setbacks during the End of the Year Bash back in December. Slideshows would freeze up, pictures wouldn’t load correctly due to vague #Hashtags, and people couldn’t remember how or where to find their pictures after the event. My crew and I had to repost messages via Instagram and Facebook to help them find pictures from that night. Let’s just say after all that hassle I was not posing for another picture for quite a while. Seeing that I have another event coming up shortly, this post from Emily Sandelands on Eventup gives us some great planning ideas on How to Best Use Social Media at Your Next Event. https://eventup.com/blog/how-to-best-use-social-media-at-your-next-event/

Best Hotels

Aphrodite INK and the best hotels

Who wouldn’t love being in the best hotels in a different state each month? Think of all the different types of events one could have. Masquerades in Montana or Sexy Shows in South Carolina, the possibilities would be endless. One goal for Aphrodite INK is to travel to different surroundings and time zones to throw all types of events, either an Aphrodite INK original or a client request location. From Bachelorette parties in Las Vegas to birthday trips to Hawaii, Aphrodite INK wants everyone to feel the rush of a great event and in a great city and hotel. Why not live a little! This show was even better than the last. The performances were great, the costumes were stunning, and the crowd went wild. Everything from burlesque and boylesque, to singing and dancing, to a beautiful aerialist piece, this show blew me away for the second time. Sunni Stephens and company sure know how to keep the audience wanting more. Improvements on this experience included integrating male performers, because ladies love to gawk as much as men do, beautifully attired and fit to the theme waitresses and staff walking around asking for drink refills and orders, and even students of the Atlanta School of Burlesque were given the opportunity to shine on stage with the new skills they learned from the school. I even found myself so moved by the show that I bribed a sweet gentlemen to sell me a masquerade from their photo props table. It turns out that that sweet man that I had bribed was none other than Sunni’s husband. Showing his full support for his wife and giving in to one Aphrodite’s collection of masks, he sold it to me with a smile. I hope that everyone experiences this show at least once in their life, if not many, many more times and I’m hoping that one day Clubesque and Aphrodite INK will get the opportunity to collaborate on an event one day.

I had a great time venturing out to a new event last August called Clubesque. Advertised as Vegas, Broadway,  Cabaret and Burlesque and put on by Sunni Stephens and company it’s a show that after experiencing once you’d be instantly hooked and you’ll definitely want to come back time and time again.  So I am going back. Their next show will on January 9, 2015. Join Aphrodite INK and let’s #GetClubesqued. We can’t wait.
